Texas Brothers Kidnap Minnesota Family, Steal $8M in Cryptocurrency
Two brothers from Texas orchestrated a violent home invasion in Minnesota, resulting in the theft of $8 million worth of cryptocurrency. Raymond Christian Garcia, 23, and Isiah Angelo Garcia, 24, armed with an AR-15-style rifle and a shotgun, confronted a family in Grant, Minnesota, zip-tying the father outside his home before forcing their way inside.
The assailants held the family at gunpoint for nine hours, with Raymond guarding the wife and adult son while Isiah forced the father to transfer digital assets from his accounts. The brothers made repeated calls to an unidentified third party, suggesting a coordinated operation. At one point, Isiah drove the father to a remote cabin to access a hardware wallet containing additional funds.
Law enforcement intervened, but the suspects fled the state. The case highlights the risks associated with high-value cryptocurrency holdings and the lengths criminals will go to exploit them.
